Welcome to My Blog
Hello and welcome to my blog called, The Journal! My name is Alyssa Duet and I am a Wedding and Portrait photographer based in St. Paul, Minnesota. Here on this blog I am going to share some personal posts about my life and will also be sharing some posts of my most recent photography sessions.
To kick off my first blog post, I thought it would be fun to share with you all a little bit about myself and how I got into wedding photography!
To start, I was born and raised in the lovely Sunshine State of Florida! I always loved the hot summer days, and when it got to be really hot then I enjoyed cooling off in the pool or relaxing at the beach...ahh so nice!
When I was in high school, my Uncle gave me my first DSLR Sony camera and that is where my journey into photography began! When I first got my new camera, I was super excited to use it, so my sister, Daneille, and I would do mini-photoshoots in our neighborhood (haha those were some good times!)
For college, I went to the University of Tampa and graduated with my Bachelor’s and Master's degree. During my time in college, I continued to grow my photography by taking friends senior graduation pictures and also a few friends engagement pictures -- those sessions were always so special and fun!
In the summer of 2018, I decided to move to Minnesota to be closer to my sister, who I dearly love! Moving from warm Florida to the frigid cold of Minnesota was quite an adjustment for sure (haha) but I have really loved my time living in the Twin Cities and have found many beautiful locations for pictures. Also that summer, I assisted photographer Amy Kaley (she is fantastic!!) for a wedding in Eden Prairie, MN. Amy was my sister’s wedding photographer and I was so happy to work with her and to learn the ropes for taking photos for a wedding. I really was amazed at how much goes into documenting a wedding and I also really loved getting the chance to partake in such a special moment of people’s lives and to capture moments they will cherish for a lifetime!
Then in 2019, a dear friend of mine named Grace, reached out to me and asked if I would take her and her fiance’s wedding pictures! I was so honored! Grace and Kyle have such a beautiful love story and witnessing their wedding day was truly a special and happy day that I am very grateful to have been a part of. Since then I have been continuing to grow my wedding photography portfolio!
